Sea Ya card

Hello, Today I am using Fresh Brewed Designs "Under the Sea- scene along with Sweetie Sea Turtle, Not so Crabby Crab, Handsome Hermit Crab, Sassy Seahorse, Flirty Fish, and What a Whale and the 2 sentiments." You can find them in the Fresh brewed Designs store here http://www.freshbreweddesigns.com/ You can find the Fresh Brewed Designs blog here http://freshbreweddesigns.blogspot.com/

Copics Used are (R20, R22, R24- coral, YR21, YR24, YR31- pipes, G28, G03, G07- seaweed, YR21, YR24, YR31- starfish, RV00, RV02, YR00, YR01, YR02- shell)- Under the Sea, YR01, YR04, YR09- crab, Y13, Y15, Y17- fish, YG01, YG03, G03- seahorse, C1, C3, C5, BG11, BG13- whale, YR21, YR24, Y13, YG03, YG93, YG95- turtle, R20, R22, R24- hermit crab.

Stardust Gelly Roll pens used are: Clear Stardust - sand dollar, Sky and yellow stardust- fish, Yellow stardust and green metallic- seahorse, sky stardust- water spot of whale, orange and clear stardust on hermit crab.

I flipped the images so the digis are going in both directions.

The papers are by DCWV- background paper, Recollections-speckled paper, and blue, Georgia pacific- white.

This card is made of different layers.
First I glued the background paper down, then add the digis.
2nd- Get a craft baggie 4" x 6" squeeze blue hair gel in it to make a thin layer. Make sure you get out as much air as possible before sealing completely.. I added adhesive to the the 2 ends and folded it over about 1/4".Now go around the outside edges of your card with with Score tape or ATG adhesive. Lay your baggie on the card smoothing it out as you go. This will make it look like water on your card.
3rd- cut a piece of cardstock the same size as your card. cut out a frame with each side 1/2" wide. Place foam stripes, dots, or tape all around it. Make sure it is strong. Lay this onto of the baggie.
4th- Now decorate the frame. I laid some digis flat on on the frame and others I pop dotted.
5th- I decided after making the card I wanted it to stand up so i made it into an easel card.

Note: The gel will slide down making it look like the water is deeper there. just lay it flat and smooth it back out to get the gel back in place.

The 2 shells are by K & Company. I went over them with Copic BV02 to get them the color they are. they were cream with purple strips.

Have a wonderful summer. Edwina

Robyn's Fetish Challenge # 164 tags

                                                                Pocket Tag

Pocket tag with the other tags.

Back of tags made for journaling.

Hello, Today at Robyn's Fetish our challenge is to make tags.  I am using "Water Fun Bundle" from Melonheadz. Melonheadz Illustrating is our sponsor this week. The winner gets a $15 gift certificate to the Melonheadz Illustrating Store. you can find the store here http://melonheadzillustrating.blogspot.com

Copics used are E000, E00, E01, E02- skin, E31, E57, E59- brown hair, YR21, YR23, Y21 blond hair, BG11, BG13, BG15, BG18- water, R22, R29, R35, R59- reds, YG00,YG01, YG03, YG07, YG41, G03, G07- greens, B00, B01, B02, B05- blues, Y04, Y13, Y15, Y17, YR24- yellows, RV02, RV04, RV06, RV09- pinks, YR01, YR04, YR09- oranges, C1, C3, C5, C7- grays.

Glitter glue was used on the water.

I made the pocket tag by cutting a piece of cardstock at 4 1/4" x 7". I hand cut this rounding the top. Now cover the tag with cloud cardstock on the front. Add the pocket. Using a whole punch, punch a hole in the tag. Cut another piece at 2 3/4" x 5 1/4". I scored this piece on 3 sides at 1/2". Then folded the scored lines. Cute a notch in the corners and then add ATG to the tabs. Adhered this to the tag piece. This will make your pocket. Now cover the back of your tag with cloud paper. Punch a hole lining up with the hole you punched earlier.  Make a journal card to add to the back and decorate. Now decorate the pocket. I cut a piece of green cardstock at 4 1/4" x 2 3/4". I then hand cut grass on the one side. Glued it to the pocket and decorated with the colored digis. I added one of the boys to the tag background. Using the other digis in the set I made tags to go into the pocket. I put journal cards on the back of all of them. These are made to use in a scrapbook.

The papers are by Bazzill- blue, DCWV- green, Recollections- light green, Georgia Pacific- white, Philadelphia Group- clouds.

The ribbon is by Details. I got it at the Dollar Tree store.

Thanks for dropping by. Have a great Summer! Edwina

You can find them in the Fresh brewed Designs store here http://www.freshbreweddesigns.com/ You can find the Fresh Brewed Designs blog here http://freshbreweddesigns.blogspot.com/

Edwina

How to make background paper using shaving cream and re- inkers

How to Make Background Paper Using Shaving Cream and Re- inkers.

Supplies:
Shaving cream- white only
Ink refills- I used Tim Holtz Broken China and red
Cookie sheet lined with foil
Paper towels
Craft stick or Popsicle stick
White cardstock

Set up work station.

Note: It is best to cover your counter with wax paper before starting. I did not do this and it was hard getting the ink up. You have to use a cleaner with bleach in it to remove it all.

Decide how big a piece of cardstock you are wanting to do. Then spray the shaving cream in the pan.

Make sure you cover it good and that you have enough to be slightly bigger than your paper.

The next 2 photos show  me smoothing out the shaving cream using a craft stick. It does not have to be perfect.

Decide on the colors of ink you wish to use. Use between 2-3 inks. More than 3 inks and it will be muddy looking. Now add drops of the first color you will use.

Now add your second color of ink. It is best to put your inks were there is a drop every 2" just like baking cookies.

Using your craft stick or Popsicle stick run it through your inks so it will give a marbled look. I started by going horizontal fist.

Now do the same thing going vertical. You will have a cross hatched design.

This is how it should look.

Place your paper down on the shaving cream.

Press lightly over the entire surface so the paper touches the ink good.

                                                      Now lift your paper up.

This is how it will look.

Place your paper on the counter. Take another piece of cardstock and place it on top of the one with the ink / shaving cream on it.

Press the top piece onto the bottom. I just lightly rubbed my hands across starting in the center of the paper. This will make sure the ink gets on both papers.

                                                   Pull the papers apart.

Wipe the papers off going in a circular motion. this will add to the design of the ink on your paper.

Make sure you get all the shaving cream off. Let dry completely before using.

Note: Do not throw away the shaving yet. you can us it till the shaving cream is gone in your pan. If you think it needs more ink add drops where you had the other and run the stick through it. I did this and made several sheets. I actually like my last few the best.

Here are all the papers I made.

Now your are ready to make cards.

Pick out your digis. I am using George Washington, Go Team,  Liberty Bell, My Bike and Play Ball by Robyn's Fetish. You can find them here http://robynsfetish.com

Here are the cards I made. The banner behind My Bike says Happy Flag Day.

Note: Here are some good color combinations to try. Be careful to not over combine the inks.
Red, blue, purple
Yellow, green, blue
red, orange, brown
red, orange yellow
orange, green, purple
black, orange, lime

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you will give this a try. It was a lot of fun.

I saw this technique first on Split Coast Stampers here - http://www.splitcoaststampers.com/resources/tutorials/shaving_cream1/

See you next time. Edwina
