Recycle a can, coffee filters, and dying flowers

Hello, Today I am sharing a recycled project I made. I recycled a peach can, coffee filters, and dying flowers from an arrangement of lilacs and lilies.

I washed my can with soap and water. Then let it dry. Once dry I covered the cut edge with 2 layers of white floral ribbon. Then I covered that with a wine satin ribbon. Then I placed my card stock one the can. I used K and Co. ribbon around the top and bottom of the can. Then I used a lace on the top allowing the scalloped edge to go over the top edge of the can. Then I adhered an iridescent pearl trim in loops around the can. Last I adhered the flowers and leaves.

Mom was given a flower arrangement by our neighbor. I asked her when the flowers were dying if i could have them. i noticed the lilacs were drying a nice shade of yellow and purple. The lilies a deep red. Some of the leaves turned a light tan. I removed the flowers and what leaves I wanted. I placed them on napkins to dry. I let them dry about a month. Then I crumbled the flowers up and the leaves. The lilacs did best. I used the white lilac flower soft in the center of my large flowers. The white turned a light yellow with bits of green in it.

My Pop drinks coffee by the pot full it seems like. I decided to try saving the,. I rinsed them off and laid them out to dry. I used around 7-10 coffee filters for my flowers. I punched out the largest flowers using a Stampin Up 2" flower punch and cut out scallops for the small flowers. Depending on your filter size how many you can cut out. I was able to get 3 large flowers and 4 small out of mine. I then used a brad to hold my 7 layers of flowers together. I scrunched up my flower petals layer by layer around the tiny brad. then I light pulled them back shaping a flower. Once I had a shape I liked I spritzed the flowers with Dylusions Funky Fuchsia spray ink. Once dry I glued some flower soft into the center of the large flowers. Then I adhered the flowers to my can adding leaves cut from a candle ring.

The card stock is by Georgia Pacific- white. The print is digital by Neia Scraps.

Guest Designer for The Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge Flowers 5/19/2016

Hello, Today I am a guest designer on The Outlawz Twisted Thursday Challenge. The twist this week is Flowers. You can find the Twisted Thursday challenge here http://outlawzchallenges.ning.com/group/prismaandothermediums.

I am using a digi set called "MHK Designs Butterfly". You can find it in the MHK Designs Store here https://www.etsy.com/shop/mhkdesigns?page=1.

I have 2 cards and a double sided tag to share with you today.

Copics used are B000, B01, B02, B05.

I colored 2 each of the 3 sizes I made. I bent the wings on one of each size and glued the body to the body of the other butterfly of the same size. I placed foam tape on the wings right past the bend on the back of them so the wings would stay in place.

The flowers were cut out using a Spellbinders die called Scalloped Circles. I then hand cut out some leaves and drew in veins with a Copic marker and glued them to the edge of the flowers.

The shaker items are sequins- flowers, leaves, hexagon, stars, seed beads, and tinsel. I mixed it up myself.

The papers are by Georgia Pacific- white, Recollections- green, blue, orange.

The card is 5" x 6 1/2".

Copics used are Y000, Y00, Y11, Y15, YR21.

I colored 2 each of the 3 sizes I made. I bent the wings on one of each size and glued the body to the body of the other butterfly of the same size. I placed foam tape on the wings right past the bend on the back of them so the wings would stay in place.

The sentiment is by create with TLC. You can find it here http://icraftgifts.com/digital-creations-with-tlc.

The pearls trim I got from Mon Ami Gabby.

The large flower is homemade. I used Spellbinders die Scalloped Circles. I cut out every one of the sizes. I cut between each scallop.  Then shaped the flower. I then spritzed the flower with Red Rouge Shimmer Mist by ART-C. Once dry I added a sunflower pearl to the center. To attach the flower to the card I added foam dots stacked to support the center and added outer about middle ways between the center of the flower and the edge of it.  It makes me think of a Zinna.

While I was spraying the shimmer mist I sprayed a piece of white card stock too. I used it on the card for matting.

The ribbon is by Really Reasonable Ribbon. You can find it here http://www.reasonableribbon.com/.

The papers are by Recollections- olive, light olive, Far Far Hills- digital floral print- http://farfarhill.blogspot.com/Georgia Pacific- white, Coral shimmer- homemade.

Robyn's Fetish Challenge #316 Use Your Favorite Colors 5/15/2016

Above: Top of box.
Below" Showing the top and front of box.

Above: Showing the side of the box. The ribbon loops are the hinges.
Below: Showing the inside of the box.

Hello, Today at Robyn's Fetish our challenge is to Use Our Favorite Colors. My favorite colors are pink and yellow. I am using "Tea For Two" by Robyn's Fetish. Robyn's Fetish is our sponsor this week. The winner gets their choice of 3 digital images from the Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps and More store. You can find the Robyn Fetish store here http://robynsfetish.com/shop.

Copics used are Y0000, Y000, Y00, Y02, Y13, Y21, Y23, Y26, Y28, RV10, RV21, RV23, RV25.

I made a box by using Spellbinders dies Classic Circles Large using the next to the largest one, and Scalloped Circles- largest die in set. I cut out 2 circles and 2 scalloped circles using a cereal box. I then cut out in white card stock 4 each of the circle and scalloped circles. Then I cut out using my designer card stock 4 Scalloped Circles being sure my design went in the correct direction since it had stripes. I also cut out 2 circles in the floral print.

I glued the white card stock to each side of the cereal box die cuts. This gives extra support to the box and protects the designer  card stock. Next glue on one designer circle to one side of each circle. Set aside. Then I glued a scalloped circle to each side of the scalloped circles. Thy to get them to line up.

Cut a 11" x 3 1/4" strip of double sided card stock for the side of your box. Score at 1/4" along the short side so you have a score line 11" long. Fold and crease the score line. Then add score tape to the inside crease. leave the lining on it. Cut at about 1/4" intervals along the 1/4" score line just up to it. Now remove the lining from the tape. Take a circle with the design paper up. Attach the score tape under it and slowly curve the side around the circle pressing the tape onto the bottom of the circle. Be aware you will need to over lap the card stock some. You will need to cut off the very last 1/4" flap on the bottom so it lines up right.

Once the wall is attached, glue it to a Scalloped Circle centering it up.
Place ribbon for the  hinges next to each other on the other scalloped Circle. Gluing them into place. Now cover with a circle being sure to center it in the scalloped circle.

Cover the seam of the side on the wall of the box with ribbon or lace.  Attach the loops for the hinges to the side. We are going to keep all seams on the back. Being sure there is a loop when you attach them them that has give to it. Place ribbon around the edges of the top and bottom of the box. This gives strength to the box and covers up edges of the ribbons.

Now decorate your box.

I added lace, pearl trim, flowers, my digi, and a doily.

The doily is from The Cricut Anna Griffin cartridge Sophisticated Soiree page 25  cut at 4 1/4".

The flowers are by Wild Orchid Crafts.

The pearl trim is by Hobby Lobby.

The ribbons are by Really Reasonable Ribbon. You can find it here http://www.reasonableribbon.com/.

The lace came from a thrift store in NC.

The papers are by Georgia Pacific- white, Digital prints by Cajoline Scraps.

The box is 3 1/8" x 4".
